From Miss'ippi to Oklahoma to South Dakota to Cody WY! Top of the World, too!

In 2014 we began planning this adventure on our Forum (GoldwingOwners.com) and finally, after a year or longer, we set out from a variety of towns across this great land of ours. Our goal, to rendezvous in Cody, Wyoming, on Monday, June 22, 2015. It was from our various campgrounds, hotels and motels that we would begin our exploration of all the area had to offer.
I departed north Mississippi on Thursday evening with a destination of Forgan, Oklahoma with 12 hours. Mother Nature had other plans and decided to provide a good bath for everything and anything within a 300 mile radius of Little Rock, AR. So I stopped east of Little Rock and called it a night. Short of my destination, but safe and sound from the howling winds, torrential rain and 18-wheelers on Interstate 40.
Hitting the road before sunrise, and braving a few lingering showers between me and the Oklahoma state line, I still had a good day of riding ahead and rolled into Forgan, OK, around 5 pm on Friday evening. My friend, Terry, guided me through all three blocks that are Forgan, and we drank a toast to friendship and my safe arrival. Then we discussed the week's adventure that lay ahead of us. We planned to pull out of his driveway at 2 am so I crashed and slept well.... until midnight! Excitement sets in and we all turn into little kids at Christmas as we anticipate the folks we'll see and the new friendships that will be created at our "Meet and Greet." So Terry put on a pot of coffee, we checked over the bikes and loaded the coolers and packed up the last few items for our journey. We set out at 2 am with Mike "Grumpy" Miller and his "kids" in tow. In Mississippi, we have to wait until around 9 am until the sun rises above the tree line, but it was so flat out here that I could sense the curvature of the earth and see the glow of the sunrise on the eastern horizon for about 3 hours as we rode due north through Kansas.
Check out the photos below - I'll be back to finish my story soon.
